WHAT: |
The PCIT Institute of Southern California offers parent-child interactive therapy for families with children ages 2-8 with behavioral problems. The program is geared toward children who display difficulties with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), Autism Spectrum disorders, anxiety and difficult divorce reactions. The cutting-edge, short-term therapy approach has been proven to improve child behavior and enhance parent-child relationships with long-term results. |
SESSION DESCRIPTION: |
Weekly, one-hour sessions are held over an approximate 12-week time period. The teaching sessions involve modeling and role-playing of very specific skills. Through a one-way mirror, parents are “coached” while wearing a small ear piece on what to say/how to react while interacting with their child. |
WHERE: |
Based in Newport Beach, California, the Institute offers private consultation rooms and interactive therapy rooms for parents and their children. In addition, sessions can be conducted virtually (via webcam/online) or phone sessions can be added in order to fulfill the needs of today’s busy parents. |
